Write a statement of intent for how you will present the final piece consider space / venue (will it be projected / shown somewhere, or will it be on the internet?) equipment and resources needed, how you will make it professional and how audience will react. (P5)

THIS WEEK

By the end of this week you should have:

All artist research (P1 / P2)
All software / equipment research (P2)
At least 3 plans for final idea (P3)
Statement of intent for final idea (P3)

You should also have made some initial practical explorations into what you want to do.(P4 / M1)

All of this should be recorded on your blog and labelled.

For your final idea, it can be anything you want as long as it is digital in its application and has a purpose

It can be:

An art piece for display in a gallery or online
A graphic ident for a company
A music video
A film
An animation

For any of these options, you need to be clear what you're trying to show and what you want people to take away from it.

Development of Ideas

Mindmap 3 ideas (be as specific as possible) paying particular attention to theme, media, how it will differ to traditional art and how you will achieve it.
Illustrate with your previous experiments if relevant
Illustrate with artist images / work
(Merit criteria requires specific links between your work and artist work - if you are responding to an artist not yet looked at, ensure you do a brief analysis of their work)

Once decided write a statement of intent (template on Firefly)

Post all mindmaps and statement of intent as separate posts labelled with P3 & M1

DEADLINE: End of week!

Thursday 22 March 2018

Software / equipment research

Once you have done the artist research, look at 3 different pieces of software or equipment (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, cameras) and the processes you can explore with them (GIFs, collage) to  create digital artwork. Illustrate each piece of software / equipment with images and screenshots.

For each piece of software / equipment, show an artist's work and write about the software / process and what it does. You should talk about how the artist has used it and how it differs from traditional media.
Save as separate posts and label P2.

Artist research

Find 3 artists using digital media to create artwork.
They can be working with, among other things, GIFs, digital collage, film, cinemagraphs, or stop motion animation.
Their focus can be commercial (advertising / idents), narrative driven (films) or art-based (for galleries - physical or online)

For each artist follow the following structure:

Images / work
Information about the artists
Talk about one specific piece answering these questions:
How it was made
What it deals with
How it differs from traditional media
What equipment, software, approaches, techniques, effects and methods of presentation are used

Post as separate posts and label with P1 and P2
